Anonymous asked: (First part, so sorry tumblr keeps eating this!) Hi, I apologize for the length of this but I wanted to let you know how helpful I found a comment you made. To give some background info I am a cisgendered bisexual female who is a practicing Mormon. After a long, angsty battle to find peace with myself and my own beliefs it is only very recently that I became aware of the injustices that transgendered people are living with every day. I've been trying to use resources and slowly do my own
Thanks for resending this. Again, I really appreciate hearing that something I said was helpful in your process. It’s really great that you are working to educate yourself on the issues faced by others, and these oppressions are linked (for example, the dismissal of genderqueer and non-binary identities as “not being able to make a choice and stick with it” echoes the “logic” used to dismiss and invalidate bisexual experiences).
Sorry, this is not as great a response as I would like, I haven’t had my coffee yet :)
Thank you again for sharing a bit about your experiences. It’s a good reminder that it is often through our own personal struggles that we become aware of the struggles faced by others and feel called to respond.
